I don't know about you, but over the last several years, I've watched as the practice of faxing has fallen to a large degree. There was a time when the use was prevalent, but email has really pushed faxing to the curb. I've even taken a little pleasure in watching the practice of faxing take it's last breath, much like the old Beta video technology.
But there's still an area of communication that emails still lack and that's the area of legal documents that need time stamping and signatures. Not to say that emailing can't do those things somewhat, but if you can't do it in person, faxing is the generally accepted form of document validation. So, bottom line, I've finally come to terms that faxing too has it's place in the communication world and will probably not be going away any time soon.
The biggest problem I have with faxing as a small business owner is the fumbling with the machine, making sure that it's transmitted property, keep paper and ink in the machine, etc. What a mess! Luckily a few years ago I discovered eFax, which has basically combined the ease of email technology with time stamps and signature ability of faxing.
The service is easy...for as low as $9/mo, you can get a local fax number that you can use to send and receive faxes without a fax machine! It's all handled over an easy to use software program. When you receive a fax, it notifies you, and you can pull the document up on the computer, make changes, add text, print your signature, etc, then fax it back or to someone else. The service cuts out the space a fax machine takes as well as the upkeep of a machine. Can you think of anything easier?
